| "regular nintendo"... |

| | super furry animals :o) | ] | Um, just played some nintendo (*ahem, as in the original nintendo gaming system) with some good people: rob, grant, big kountry (latter two from austin). it was one of the most awkward things i've done in a long, long time. see folks, the first and only gaming system i had growing up was SUPER nintendo entertainment system. i was 8, it was christmas, and i wanted the "regular" nintendo, not super. well, my unaware parents got us super nintendo. i was frustrated, b/c at the time, it felt very foreign to my tiny hands. well, over the years, (that was 13 years ago) super nintendo became my system of choice by far. i could play sooo many different games, and i was actually pretty good at most of them. i even had that mario allstars game... and, then i got familiar with the snes version of the "regular" nintento mario bros. game. it was manipulated so that kids with snes could play along too. i tell you this, because today... when i played that original version of that game on its original gaming system... IT WAS AWKWARD, therefore i wasn't very good. ok, that's all. |

| So I don't know where you'll be come September, but I'll be living in Germany for a year... |
[Mar. 11th, 2005|10:41 am] |
So, it's been a week since I've put anything on here... I realize that one might think that I (as a new user) am a mere amateur to the LiveJournal community (which may be true), however, school just about ran me flat into the ground this last week. And that is my one and only excuse for not posting a damn thing for a week. There was barely time for sleep, let alone any sort of online-journaling.
LOW points of the week...
-->while taking my Modern Philosophy midterm (that I studied 20+ hours for) I was afraid that I would have to drop the class. Seriously, it was that painful. I sat down, received my blank sheets of paper, and my mind suddenly reflected the emptiness on the paper. Descartes, Hobbes, Malebranche, Spinoza, and Leibniz all blurred together, as I tried to pull various arguments and facts out of my ass (with less than 3 hours of sleep the night before).
-->having 2 more midterms after that one this week.
HIGH points of the week...
-->getting one point above the average score on my phil. midterm. With my 3 summary grades added on, I got a B. I hope everyone can comprehend my surprise and excitement.
-->INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY (Tuesday, March 8) We celebrated by making vegetable borsch (Russian stew)With something like 15 vegetables in it... and it was soooooo good. Cam, Robert, Cliff, Thomas and I sat around, ate our stew, drank some wine, and Cam and I made red shirts that said...
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY - on the front, and... A SOCIALIST HOLIDAY - on the back.
The holiday started as a socialist holiday in Russia in like 1913 or 1914, and the women who marched for it in 1917 helped in starting the February Revolution. No shit. So, Cameron and I wore our red shirts on Tuesday.
-->Thursday night, drank lots of wine and watched Garden State with Cam, Cliff, Robert, Thomas, Jennifer, and Ashley
-->realized that Spring Break is here, and I'm freeeeeeeee. Here is my spring break schedule...
Sat - relax, read, clean up a bit, relax Sun - relax, read, relax Mon - work for 3 hours (that's it), relax, read outside probably, do some hanging out Tue - work for 5 hours (that's it for the whole week), read, relax, make a HUGE vegetarian dinner with Jenn, Lindsay, Wes, Thomas, whoever else ends up coming... Wed - Austin Thu - Austin Fri - Austin Sat - Austin Sun - Austin
* yes, yes, it will be the shit... and if I do recall, there's this little music festival called something like South by Southwest going on this week... :o)
OK, BRACE YOURSELVES, B/C HERE IS THE HIGH POINT OF MY COLLEGE EXPERIENCE....
-->As of this morning... I AM OFFICIALLY GOING TO STUDY IN GERMANY (at Universität Tübingen) FOR A WHOLE YEAR, STARTING IN SEPTEMBER! Yeah, that's badass. That's where I'll be if anyone needs me. Germany. For two semesters. With a big fat two month break between semesters... :o) AND, Cam is going too! It's going to be unreal.
Ok, now I'm happy, with a whole week of happiness stretched out before me..... |

| new hobby officially determined... |
[Mar. 2nd, 2005|11:36 pm] |
| [ | music |
| | Neutral Music Hotel | ] | ok, hanging out with professors is my favorite thing ever. i just spent 2+ hours at dr. b's with a few other students and a few other professors from out of town... having sundry, hilarious, and intelligent (yes, all three) conversation, listening to good music, drinking wine, going on a sub-woofer tour... seriously, it's "woofer-rama" over there (and that was his term, not mine). he has a sub-woofer in every single room, no lie... perhaps this realization of what is quickly becoming a sort of hobby, is due to the fact that i want to be one of them (a professor, that is) in my next life (and by next life i mean in my 30's and on). plus dr. b is the shit. he wants to meet up with me at bonnaroo... and that will be an INSANE story if it transpires.
mmk, i have to get up super-mega-ultra-early tomorrow. sucks.
peace out* -kb |

| there's a first time for everything i guess... |
[Mar. 1st, 2005|11:47 am] |
well… i've finally broken down. i've succumbed to the ever-increasing popularity of this online-open-to-the-public-journal-thing. i’m not sure if i’ll like it or not, but have decided to give it a whirl. not sure that any one is going to want to waste their own valuable time to read my mindless banters, because i assure you… they will be just that (so there’s your disclaimer). although… i find myself doing that very thing… you know what it is, because you’re obviously an unaware victim too… guilty at this very moment… spending an exorbitant amount of time, reading into the personal lives of friends (and sometimes random individuals) just for the hell of it… and for no valid reason other than to procrastinate some other less fascinating obligation, at the precise moment when you should not be. it’s ok… i understand… so, i’ve acquiesced, and am therefore contributing to the chaos and time-absorbing phenomenon that is the live journal…
enjoy… |
